SAL TIME--I'M BACK

So glad to be rejoining the SAL. The break was just what I needed to sort out my issue with Chocolate Chocolate and More Chocolate. If you recall I was having issues with my fabric. Every time I picked it up there were new issues. Missing fabric threads, small holes etc. The fabric was disintegrating. I finally bit the bullet and even though I had a lot done I restarted it on a better piece of fabric. I am so much happier with it now and have made a good restart. Since other projects are also calling me I have come up with a plan (we'll see how this goes LOL). One of the floss tubers I watch does what she calls Daily 30 with her focus piece. She does 30 minutes on it everyday before other stitching. I have decided to do Daily 60 on Chocolate. Hopefully that will give me more good progress.

Here is where it was when I restarted on July 19.

And here is where it is now.

I may try to save the long column on the original but haven't really decided how yet.

I do this SAL with a group of very talented stitchers who are working on a variety of amazing projects.

Please check out their projects.

  1. Welcome back Cindy! You are so brave to restart this, but I can see you stitch very fast! Great progress and the 60 min a day should help you get back to where you were quickly. Yes, I hope you can find a use for that finished column. Maybe just a rectangular narrow frame will do if it exists in that size!?

  2. I think you were right to restart this one. Do you think a moth could have eaten the fibres? Well done on the massive amount of progress already. Even if you did 30 minutes every day it would still be great progress.

  3. ooooh I might have to steal your Daily 60 idea as that would really help my progress (or lack of). Was wondering, to save a column of the original piece, could you maybe iron onto fusible fabric, cut slightly larger than what you plan to keep and then do a zigzag or overlock stitch on sewing machine, before framing?

  4. Welcome back Cindy! I think there has to be a way to join that finished column with your new fabric. even if you had to back stitch them together by hand it would save you hours and hours of stitching.

  5. Daily 30 or 60 or any amount really really works! I did a daily 60 watching Perry Mason on TV for one project :) You really have a great re start on this. I was also thinking you could save this by framing what you have done as a slim panel, evening out that one side. It would still be adorable.

  6. Welcome back! I love the idea of daily 30 (or 60) -- might be a good way for me to balance large projects with smaller projects. Thanks for sharing the idea!
